The more you work, the more critical it is to do the exact opposite: relax.
Yet many high-powered executives are what I call “challenged relaxers.” There will always be one more call to make, one more report to send, one more thing to check off the list.
That cycle will never end. Accepting that and adopting a mindset that you deserve to de-stress, that you are worthy of relaxation, is how you start learning to let go long enough to recover.
You might buy into the corporate myth that idle time is “unproductive.” On the contrary, it led me to peak performance. It serves as a reboot for my entire system. When I work, I am more productive and rejuvenated. When I relax, I really slow down and recharge.
